ASBESTOS AND MESOTHELIOMA
Asbestos is a naturally-occurring mineral fiber that has been used for centuries, but it has been only during the 1900's that its terrible, toxic properties have been learned. It was widely used by industry because it was non-combustible and had great tensile strength and was used as an insulating material widely.  More than 90% of asbestos was “chrysotile”  form of asbestos. Asbestos has been used in cements, floor products, roofing products, construction insulation, shipbuilding, fire proofing, and in a wide variety of railroad applications and equipment for railroad products.

Asbestos is known to cause several diseases including lung cancers, mesothelioma, asbestosis, colon and rectal cancer, and possibly others. For information regarding medical aspects of the disease, attributes of asbestos disease process, cancers, and legal aspects and links, read further on this site.

BRAIN/HEAD INJURY
This information site provides information relating to brain and head injuries, concussion, and coma for those suffering injuries, for survivors, spouses, and those providing care. We provide educational information relating to how the diagnosis and proof of brain and head injury occur.  We provide articles, graphics, and important information links for what is generally called traumatic brain injury (TBI). Our goal is to help persons and family members that may have suffered brain injuries seek appropriate care as well as legal advice.  Please click through this site as you will find various sources that can be located to assist those who have questions about TBI.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE
In 1999, the Institute of Medicine
released a report which claimed that some 44,000 people die each year because of medical errors, and now the National Academy of Sciences has increased that estimate to approximately 98,000 Americans dying from medical mistakes each year.  Medical mistakes result in serious personal injuries and wrongful deaths, and with the increasingly complex forms of surgical and operative procedures, it is even more important for medical providers to have the necessary training and skill required for their field of practice.  This site provides information on the standards that medical providers must meet, information on medical procedures, official government sites relating to credentials, and also provides many medical and legal tips for persons or family members seeking information.  Generally, for legal recovery caused by medical mistakes, there must be a failure of a medical provider to meet the standard of conduct or care for the particular duties in question.  Please click inside this site for further information and links to other important websites.

TRUCK/TRAILER ACCIDENTS
Due to the sheer size, weight, and speed at which trucks and tractor-trailers travel on our nation’s highways, accidents involving trucks and trailers can be catastrophic or even fatal.  For a person or family member injured in such an accident, tracking down the proper trucking company that may be responsible can be an overwhelming burden. Many companies are interstate truckers and it is not clear from the placarding, what particular company may have been the employer of the driver, or have been legally responsible for the driver’s actions.  Trucking accident can be caused by overloading, driver fatigue, excessive speed, malfunction or defective equipment, tire failure, and a failure to follow a myriad of state and federal regulations applying to trucking companies and their drivers. This site provides a great deal of information about trucking companies, the regulations that apply to them, and legal aspects of an injury claim involving these accidents. We also provide tips on to-do’s if you are involved in such a trucking accident. Please click around this site for more.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE NEWS
The non-partisan General Accounting Office of Congress issued a stunning report in 2003, which suggests that the AMA misled the American people as well as state and federal legislators about the causes and existence of a medical health access crisis.  The report stated, “We...determined that many of the reported physician actions and hospital-based service reductions were not substantiated or did not widely affect access to health care”.  The report cast serious doubt on the tort reform argument that medical negligence actions are somehow crippling access to medical care.  Click the link to see, in adobe acrobat reader, the GAO report.
